Propose a session — Session proposals happen on the morning of camp, not in advance. Come with something you want to think through: a problem you’re stuck on, a project you want feedback on, a debate you want to have. That’s enough.

We don’t have a preferred protocol. We’re interested in the tradeoffs, and in the cross-pollination that happens when people who’ve made different choices end up in the same room.

Projects that come out of camp are open source. Session notes are public. We document what we learn. If the work is worth doing, it’s worth sharing.

We gather in person when possible: smaller venues, longer conversations, enough time to go deep on a problem together. We also run distributed (naturally) when needed — async-friendly formats, small working groups, public notes.

We’re not a conference. We’re a camp: structured around conversations, not slides. Everyone who shows up is a participant, not an audience.

We care about federated and peer-to-peer protocols, self-sovereign identity, local-first software, and open standards that outlive any single company. The practical question — how do you actually ship decentralized apps that people want to use — and the philosophical one — what does it mean for infrastructure to be a commons — are equally interesting to us.
